Metcalfe Declares Major Victory for Election Integrity and Maximum Transparency
Right-to-Know appeal granted, forcing Wolf Administration to reveal number of illegally voting foreign nationals

HARRISBURG — House State Government Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) issued the following statement today after his right-to-know appeal was partially granted by the PA Office of Open Records. The Department of State now has 30 days to release all communication and records between former Secretary Pedro Cortes and his staff regarding voter registration and/or voting by non-citizen foreign nationals.

“Thanks to this ruling, Gov. Tom Wolf and his Department of State are finally forced to stop prolonging this cover-up and take a real step toward becoming the ‘transparent government that works,’ that they have always claimed to be.

“According to testimony presented Monday in a lawsuit initiated by The Public Interest Legal Foundation, we can now confirm that more than 100,000 non-citizen foreign nationals are currently registered to vote in Pennsylvania.

“Worst of all, due to a computer ‘glitch’ dating back to the 1990s, which has illegally allowed non-citizens applying to renew driver’s licenses, and therefore, the opportunity to register to vote, this type of voter fraud has been occurring in our state for decades.

“The Department of State must be held fully accountable for blatantly obstructing the right of Pennsylvania voters to know about how many of their votes were illegally negated by foreign nationals.

“Once this information is released, it is my hope that we can get a clear picture regarding the total magnitude of this problem and take immediate action to further ensure that every legally cast vote in Pennsylvania is fairly and equally counted.

“The integrity of our entire electoral process depends on it.”
