State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler)
Recognized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as the Pennsylvania General Assembly’s “No. 1 Conservative,” State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) is serving his tenth term in office and his fourth consecutive session as the Republican Majority Chairman of the Pennsylvania House State Government Committee.
The House State Government Committee is responsible for reviewing legislation dealing with all aspects of state government, including proposed amendments to the Pennsylvania Constitution, statewide initiatives and referenda, the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act, the Regulatory Review Act, legislative redistricting, Election Code reform, lobbyist disclosure and campaign financing.
During the past three legislative sessions, the House State Government Committee has successfully advanced legislation that would reduce the size of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. For the first time in January 2016, the Senate joined with the House by voting in favor of House Bill 153, which thanks to an amendment offered by Chairman Metcalfe, would amend the state Constitution to reduce the House from 203 members to 151 members.
Most recently, Chairman Metcalfe and members of the House State Government Committee advanced several pieces of pension reform legislation to make government retirement plans more like private-sector benefit plans to protect taxpayers.
Representative Metcalfe also led legislative efforts to hold former Attorney General Kathleen Kane accountable by introducing a resolution calling for her impeachment.
Throughout his tenure, Representative Metcalfe has been a leader on the issues of taxpayer protection, the protection of Second Amendment freedoms, paycheck protection and right to work. Other legislative initiatives include proposals to completely eliminate property taxes in the Commonwealth and requiring voter referendum for any and all future local tax increases.
As a statewide leader on ending the illegal alien invasion, Representative Metcalfe is the founder of StateLegislatorsforLegalImmigration.com. The coalition, which was founded in 2007, serves as a network for state legislators across the nation who are committed to working together in demanding full cooperation among our federal, state and local governments in eliminating all economic attractions and incentives for illegal aliens, as well as securing our borders against unlawful invasion.
A U.S. Army veteran, Representative Metcalfe attended Kansas State University and was employed more than 14 years in the private sector as an electronic technician for Magnavox and a field engineer for DuPont/Dade Behring before his election to the Pennsylvania House in 1998.
Located in Butler County about 20 miles north of the city of Pittsburgh, Representative Metcalfe’s legislative district includes Adams, Clinton, Cranberry, Forward, Middlesex and Penn townships, and Callery, Mars, Seven Fields and Valencia boroughs.
